Moe is often mistaken for a crested duck but she is not. The feathers that stick up on the top of her head are the result of the crown of her skull not fully developing at birth. This left her a little slower and a little different neurologically. She is healthy happy and gets around just fine she is just dorky quirky and always a step behind the rest of the flock. I raised her myself alongside my business partner Calli and she quickly became the heart of what we are building. 

Watching Moe move through the world made us realize something simple but important. Not everything has to be perfect to be valuable and you cannot rush what you want to last. That mindset is what built PopUpPickles. 

PopUpPickles is about handcrafted comfort food with character. Pickles cheese and duck eggs done different and done right. The long term goal is to use eggs from our own flock including Moe and the rest of the ducks we raise ourselves. We want full control of quality from the ground up so we know exactly what is going into the food we serve. 

Right now we are doing this the right way. Until we are fully certified and approved by the state we are not using our own duck eggs in production. We are following all food safety and regulatory requirements and sourcing approved ingredients while we work through the certification process. Cutting corners might be faster but it is not how you build something that lasts.

Our goal is to grow PopUpPickles from pop ups and farmers markets into a trusted mobile food operation. We want customers to know where their food comes from and who stands behind it. Moe and the flock are not just a logo or a gimmick. They represent patience responsibility and doing things right even when it takes longer.
